The latest report received by Ms. Nevein Jamme Minister of Commerce and Industry on the performance indicators of the General Organization for Export and Import Control during the first half of this year (January-June) revealed that GOIEC received 46 thousand and 904 letters, including 31 thousand, 548 industrial letters and 15 thousand and 356 non-industrial.
Eng. Essam Al-Naggar, Chairman of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, said that the number of acceptable industrial messages was 29 thousand and 844, while the number of rejected industrial letters was 1704, noting that the number of accepted non-industrial letters was 14 thousand and 943, while the number of rejected non-industrial letters was 413.
Al-Naggar stated that during the reporting period, GOEIC laboratories examined 105 thousand and 685 letters, including 7767 food samples, 45,616 thousand chemical samples, 47, 161 thousand industrial samples and 5141 contract samples.
According to GOEIC instructions from the Minister of Trade and Industry to issue certificates for the free sale of exported products, GOIEC issued 14 certificates to Egyptian companies exporting Tunisia, Morocco, Kuwait and Algeria, noting that during the reporting period GOEIC issued 189 thousand and 978 certificates of origin in accordance with the protocols to the rules of origin applicable to the free and preferential trade agreements signed between Egypt and a number of countries and major economic blocs in the world, in order to apply the exemptions and customs benefits of Egyptian exports.
With regard to commercial records, the Chairman of GOIEC noted that 12 thousand, 974 new registration records had been extracted, renewed and added. 3566 included an importer's register, 3497 exporters' registers, 871 commercial agents' registers and foreign offices, 3934 production supplies registers, 787 real estate brokerage registers and 319 publicity registers.
Regarding the service of citizens and customers, Al-Naggar continued that GOEIC received 24 thousand calls and responded to 240 inquiries on “ASK” service and we answer received the website of GOEIC, which exceeded 151 thousand visitors. Also, 15 thousand and 168 reports were issued to serve the customer audience and decision maker’s efforts to support the presidential initiative to reach $100 billion in exports.
Al-Naggar noted that GOEIC training center trained 1033 trainees in the areas of export, import and laboratory inspection of exported and imported goods at GOEIC factories and ISO programs, noting that during the reporting period, the new laboratory building at the port of Dekhila was also opened and two protocols were signed in cooperation with the Industry Council for Technology and Innovation and the Chamber of Chemical Industries.
He added that the accreditation of the conformity certification unit is extended to include biodegradable plastics, electric battery products, detergents, paper and cardboard in accordance with the Saudi Technical Regulation. The unit is registered in the Saudi Authority for Standards, Metrics and Quality and is listed on the Saber platform as a conformity valuation acceptable to Saudi Arabia.
